ENOSERV and �鶹��ý were recently awarded a Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award given by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. The award is designed to highlight successful partnerships and to further cultivate the higher learning environment through State Regents’ Economic Development Grants.

�鶹��ý and ENOSERV have worked together to offer classes with a new Electrical Substation Technology program since early 2013. �鶹��ý is one of the few community colleges in the country to offer the training associated with this new program. The classes and curriculum were developed in partnership with ENOSERV and industry experts after learning of the need for skilled workers both for power utility companies and large manufacturers that depend on their own electrical substations.

As part of the Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award, ENOSERV received $1,000 and plans to put the grant money back into the classroom and the training of electrical substation technicians.

“Due to the need for well-trained employees in the power industry, we had been seeking a partnership with a local higher education institution, and �鶹��ý turned out to be the perfect fit,” said ENOSERV CEO Dennis Loudermilk. “We are extremely honored that �鶹��ý submitted the partnership for statewide recognition and honored to get the award.”

ENOSERV, a Tulsa-based software company, donated $100,000 and relay equipment to �鶹��ý as well as helped provide knowledgeable industry instructors for the courses.

“�鶹��ý wants to serve our students by equipping them with skills that transfer to the job market, and this training could allow them to step directly into the workforce thanks to the current environment,” said Lauren Brookey, �鶹��ý Vice President of External Affairs.

Submissions for the award are sent in by the higher education institutions and reviewed by the State Regents’ staff and the EDC Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award committee. For more information on the award and the other 26 winners, visit www.okhighered.org.
